I have always struggled to answer the question, “Why do you dance?”

There isn’t a clear cut answer that I can just spit out without missing a beat, but there is an answer that seems obvious to me. That is: I have to. It’s just as simple as that. My body, my mind, and my soul need it.

When I listen to music, there is an urge from somewhere deep inside myself to move to it. I love the sense of controlled freedom I have within my body when I dance. There is not a single limb unaccounted for, and the whole thing works together like one oiled machine.

I am interested in expressing myself honestly through dance. What that statement means changes every day. What does “honesty” mean? I would like to express human truths through narrative—what is the definition of “human truth?”

I create because I have to. I am a storyteller. How do we tell stories? How do we receive stories? How do performers and audience members interact?

These things interest me. Dance is my favorite medium. The space is my canvas, my body the paintbrush.

I am an explorer. Dance is my playground.
